Students Create Learning Tool to Support Students with Autism

Students in Mrs. Heiss' 11th and 12th grade classroom created and assembled a Command Center.  Command Centers are used to enhance student success in any learning environment.  These all-inclusive visual learning systems house the tools most often utilized for the student with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Included in the Command Center are visual cue cards, schedule cards, small fidget items, calendar, markers, timer and a variety of other supplies with room to store more individualized items for students.
This project is part of the Life Skills curriculum where students create their own business.  The Command Centers are available for purchase for $40 and all profits are used to fund class field trips.  Please contact Cheryl Heiss at (810) 591-04146 or for more information.
